The weekend after Naadam, Tom and I were sitting around our new house checking out the local TV stations, and we found the most amazing thing.
A child’s wrestling competition in the countryside was being televised live. Each mini wrestler had their own dramatic introduction with stats (age, height, and competition history)– most of them were only 4 or 5. They were adorable, and very serious about their sport.
Before arriving in Mongolia, Tom said he wanted to enter a wrestling competition at least once. After seeing these little guys and realizing how much of a head start on training Mongolians will have over him, he’s reconsidering.
