Camping in the Summer

This summer for the Naadam holiday we went camping the Orkhon river valley — about a day’s drive from UB.  We visited the Orkhon waterfall and then found a nice little spot to stay for a few nights.  Absolutely beautiful.

The Orkhon waterfall. I have read that this is the biggest waterfall in Mongolia, probably just looking at water flow, not height.

Cooking breakfast as a herd of sheep and goats graze behind us.

I was washing our dishes and a herd of at least 150 came over to say high. I was excited.

One of the babies even let me pick him up! Tom was less than excited to hold him, but he looks happy here.

The little goat couldn't find his mom right away and kept looking back at us. Someday I will have pet goats.

Driving in the Orkhon Valley is terrible because there is so much volcanic rock. But worth the trip.
